This model is an exact reproduction of the actual filming miniature model used in the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA television series from the 1970's. Measuring approximately 75" long, this project required painstaking research to replicate every aspect of the original model, down to the most minute detail. The internal frame was built to modern standards using an acrylic substrate, which provided a significant advantage over the original prop's highly unstable plywood substrate. The model was lit with cool LED bulbs and fiber optics. Build time required approximately nine months. When finished, this model was loaned to Seattle's Science Fiction Museum for an 18-month-long display. (Custom Replicas, for private collector.)
